The Future Is Now. Jamal Rusk gained overnight-notoriety with his debut EP "Odd Future." That warm up leads directly to this sophomore release "King," and as with any good artist his production skills and creativity have evolved light-years in the interim. The opener "King" heralds a wall of window-shattering sound, a proclamation in bass that Jamal has arrived. Rusk's signature syncopated synths and beats make a return on "Roar" with lasers and high-hats dancing in frenetic fury. "Fresh" takes a turn towards the familiar tribal slants of his debut effort while "Shift" jolts us back to the busy digital stylings of an EP that's bound to become Rusk's defining work.
